How far is it from Alaska to Florida? Use this program to find out.
Enter the longitude and latitude coordinates for any two places on the
globe and find the distance between them across the surface of the earth.

I have tested this program with internet programs that do the same thing
and the answers usually agree very closely. It does take into account
the fact that the earth is not a sphere, it is fatter near the equator.
It assumes that the earth is smooth, that is the altitude is always
assumed to be 0 ft above sea level which is not always true, though
the calculation is probably not accurate enough for this to cause a
noticeable error.

I think that sometimes it doesnt take the shortest route from one
place to the next when the two locations are almost on opposite ends
of the globe and somewhat close to the poles, if you find this to be
true and know why, please tell me.

Enjoy
